National Conference on ICON 2026

The 11th National Conference – ICON’26 on the theme “Phygital Systems: Where Physical Meets Digital Intelligence” was successfully organized by the Department of Information Technology in association with the Center of Excellence in Cyber Physical Systems, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, on March 4 and 5, 2026.

Inaugural Session The inaugural session was held on 4th March 2026 at 11:00 a.m. The session began with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. N. Kanya, Head of the Department of Information Technology and Dean (Student Affairs).

She welcomed the dignitaries, speakers, and participants, and briefly highlighted the growth and achievements of the institution and the department.

This was followed by the conference briefing delivered by Dr. Dahlia Sam, Professor, Department of Information Technology and Head (Center of Excellence in Cyber Physical Systems), who outlined the objectives, theme, and structure of the conference.

The conference was formally inaugurated and the Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. S. Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute. Valedictory Session The Valedictory Session was held on 5th March 2026 at 2:30 p.m. Technology.

The Felicitation Address was delivered by Rector Prof. Dr. D. Viswanathan, and the Valedictory Address was delivered by Shri Srikrishna S. Chippalkatti, Scientist-E and Head, IT Skill Development Centre, MEPZ-CDAC. During the valedictory ceremony, the Best Paper Awards from each technical session were announced and distributed.

National Conference on ICON 2025

The 10th National Conference ICON’25 was based on the theme Sustainable IT: Technology for a Better Tomorrow. The conference served as a platform to explore how IT can contribute to solving some of the world’s most pressing environmental and social challenges.

The 10th National Conference ICON’25 was based on the theme Sustainable IT: Technology for a Better Tomorrow. The conference served as a platform to explore how IT can contribute to solving some of the world’s most pressing environmental and social challenges.

The chief guest was Dr. S. Manthira Moorthi Scientist-G Group Director, ODPG/SIPG, Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Ahmedabad. In his talk he emphasized the importance of aligning IT innovations with global sustainability goals.

The address also outlined the role of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Computing in advancing sustainable practices. The proceedings of the National conference was released by our Honourable Chancellor Dr. AC Shanmugam and Honourable President Er. ACS Arun Kumar in the presence of the chief guest Dr. S. Manthira MoorthiThe overall co-ordination of the conference was done by Dr. R. Selvi and Mrs. C. Tamilselvi.

All other tasks including preparing the Brochure & invitation, promoting the event, e-mail communication with the participants, preparing the proceeding, issuing of certificates and communicating with the reviewer and session chairs was handled by all the department faculty members with the constant supervision and guidance of the head of the department Prof. Dr. N. Kanya. Overall, the conference was a successful one and has created a sense of justification among the participants and organizers.

National Conference on ICON 2024

The National Conference on “SmartGov:Shaping the Future of E-Governance” had an overwhelming response of 200+ registrations from 25 different institutions around the country. The inaugural session was held on 20/3/2024 at 11 a.m.

Welcome address was given by Prof. Dr. N. Kanya, HOD-IT. Madam welcomed the participants and dignitaries and shared a brief history about our institution and our department. Following this, Dr. Dahila Sam, Professor, Department of IT gave a briefing about the conference.

The Conference was formally inaugurated and the presidential address was given by Dr.S.Geethalakshmi Vice Chanceller Dr.MGR Education and Research Institute. Felicitation Address was given by Provost Dr.G. Gopal Krishnan, Additional registrar Dr.Cyril Raj and Advisor Dr.Mehta The chief guest was Mr.Sanjay Kumar Country Head ,SADA – Trivandrum.

 He emphasized the importance of E-Governance and shared about the various practical areas where it was applicable. Another Key note speaker Mr.Dexter Sam Consultant- TN school Education Department and He shared the importance of shaping the future of E-Governance

The proceedings of the National conference was released in the presence of the chief guest. With that the inaugural session ended and all the participants were asked to join the individual sessions

The conference organizing secretary are Dr. Dahlia Sam and Dr.Selvi Ram. Overall, the conference was a successful one and has created a sense of justification among the participants and organizers.

National Conference on ICON 2023

The 8th National Conference on Recent Trends in ABCD (Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics). The conference was organized by the Department of Information Technology ,Dr.M.G.R Educational and Research Institute.

The conference aimed to bring together researchers, academicians, and industry experts to discuss the latest trends and innovations in the field of ABCD. The inaugural session of the conference was held on March 23, 2023, at the University

In his address, he explained the significance of ABCD in the IT industry and the current job opportunities available in the field.

The conference received more than 250 papers from various institutions all over India, out of which 160 were reviewed and selected for presentation. The hybrid conference had eight sessions, four of which were held offline, and four were held online.

Overall, the conference was a great success. The conference also provided an opportunity for young researchers to present their work and receive feedback from experienced professionals in the field.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ICON 2022

The National Conference on “Recent Trends in AI and Data Science” had an overwhelming response of 100+ registrations from 25 different institutions around the country. The inaugural session was held on 28/4/2022 at 10 a.m online via Zoom. The proceedings of the National conference was released in the presence of the chief guest. With that the inaugural session ended and all the participants were asked to join the individual sessions for their presentations.

All the 110 papers that we received were scrutinized by the technical review team which included a panel of subject experts. 77 papers were selected for the final presentation. Antony X

The valedictory session was held on 28/4/2022 at 2:30 p.m. It was hosted by Dr. Kiruthiga, Associate Professor and the guests were welcomed by Dr. N. Kanya, HOD-IT. Valedictory address was given by Dr. V. Cyrilraj, Addl. Registrar who congratulated Finally Dr. T. Nalini gave a formal vote of thanks to end the session.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE - NCICT'21

The Six National Conference INNOVATIVE COMPUTING TECHNIQUES “REDAC” (NCICT’21) The main scope of NCICT’21 (REDAC) (Robotic process automation, Edge Computing, DevOps, AI, and Cognitive technology) was to provide a platform to the research fraternity and publish the research findings in the related areas of computing .

 A one day National conference was conducted to create awareness on the recent technological developments and their applications in the real world scenario. This conference brought together 50 participants from various engineering colleges in and around Tamil Nadu and India. This conference hosted by the department of Computer Science &Engineering and Information Technology.

The conference was started with warm welcoming address from Professor & Head of CSE, Dr. S. Geetha highlighting the importance and the objective of this conference. Dr. Kanya addl.Dean talked about NCICT conference and Joint Registrar Dr. Cyril Raj highlighted the importance about the innovative computing. In the technical presentation, 50 papers were presented in four sessions by participants on various domains like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Cloud computing, Network Security, Image Processing, Big Data Analysis, Data Mining, Cyber security etc.
