About the Faculty
Department of Architecture, Dr M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute was instituted in the year 1993 with a multidimensional approach to providing education in architecture.
Upon achieving its prestigious status of deemed to be university in the year 2003, there was a renewed focus and emergence of ideas for change.
The Department of Architecture attained its Faculty of Architecture status in 2011 and has been continuously evolving as a global leader in architectural education for over 3 decades. We celebrated our Pearl Anniversary in 2023 continuing to focus on upholding the essence of empowering brilliant and creative minds, taking it to the world beyond ordinary.
The Faculty of Architecture runs UG, PG and Ph.D programs. FoA is also running Design Programs under the Department of Design.

The standards of education being imparted by Faculty of Architecture is governed by
the Council of Architecture, New Delhi constituted by the Government of India under the provisions of the Architects Act, 1972.Council of Architecture (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 1983, has set forth the requirement of eligibility for admission, course duration, standards of staff & accommodation, course content, examination etc. The COA oversees the maintenance of the standards periodically by way of conducting inspections through Committees of Experts.
