The MGR IEI Students Chapter successfully organized a professional society event on Emotional Intelligence on 12 February 2025. The session, titled “Mastering Emotions and Building Stronger Relationships,” aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of emotional awareness and interpersonal effectiveness—skills essential for both personal growth and professional success.
The event featured engaging and interactive sessions that included group discussions, hands-on activities, and real-life scenario analyses. These thoughtfully designed components encouraged participants to reflect on their emotional responses, develop empathy, and strengthen their communication and relationship-building skills.
Participants displayed remarkable enthusiasm and actively engaged in all aspects of the program, contributing to a dynamic and enriching learning environment. The interactive nature of the sessions made the experience both informative and enjoyable, ensuring that attendees could effectively apply the concepts discussed.

The IEI MGR E&TStudents Chapter was formally inaugurated on 30 November 2018, coinciding with the celebration of IEI MGR Day. The event marked a significant milestone in fostering professional development and technical engagement among first-year E&T students.
The chapter was inaugurated by Er. R. Ramadoss, Chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India), Tamil Nadu State Centre (IEI-TNSC). He emphasized the importance of professional societies in nurturing technical competence, ethical practices, and lifelong learning among engineering students.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. P. S. Kumar, Corporate Trainer and Visiting Professor, who inspired students with his insights on professional growth, industry expectations, and the value of active participation in engineering communities.
A total of 75 students enrolled as members of the IEI during the event, demonstrating strong enthusiasm and commitment toward professional engagement. The membership certificate was ceremonially presented to the Joint Registrar, symbolizing institutional support for the initiative.
Er. Kannan, Faculty Advisor of the IEI MGR E&T Students Chapter, announced the appointment of five student coordinators for the academic year, who will play a vital role in organizing future technical and professional activities.
Participants were highly enthusiastic and actively engaged throughout the program, making the event both informative and enjoyable. The inauguration and celebration were well-received by all attendees, setting a strong foundation for the chapter’s future initiatives.
A special session titled “Need for Innovation” was organized in 2020 to inspire students to develop an innovative mindset and understand the significance of creativity in engineering and entrepreneurship. The session was delivered by Dr. Rama Vaidyanathan, Director of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre of Excellence in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute.
Dr. Rama Vaidyanathan provided valuable insights into the importance of innovation and its role in addressing real-world challenges. She elaborated on the process of product development, emphasizing how innovative ideas can be transformed into successful and sustainable products. The session highlighted key aspects such as identifying problems, ideation, design thinking, feasibility analysis, prototyping, and commercialization.
Additionally, the speaker discussed the principles and rules of innovation, encouraging students to think creatively, adopt an entrepreneurial mindset, and pursue solutions that create societal impact. Her engaging and practical approach motivated students to explore new ideas and develop confidence in their innovative abilities.
