Association Day
The Department of Information Technology at Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute successfully organized its Association Day on 2nd April 2026, marking a prestigious occasion that brought together students, faculty members, and distinguished alumni to celebrate academic excellence and professional achievements.
The grand inaugural ceremony was graced by eminent dignitaries including Honorable Chancellor A.C. Shanmugam, Honorable President Er. A.C.S. Arunkumar, and the Chief Guest Mr. Surya P., Senior Associate – HR, Flipkart. The event was further honored by the presence of Ms. Bamini Priya Baskar, esteemed alumna (Batch 2007–2011) and CTO of Hexite Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Chennai. Other notable attendees included Dr. C.B. Palanivelu, Dr. V. Cyril Raj, Dr. K. M. Mehata (Advisor – Computer Science), Dr. N. Ethiraj (Dean – E&T), and Dr. N. Kanya (Dean – Student Affairs & Head, Department of IT).
The Inaugural Address was delivered by Mr. Surya P., who shared valuable insights on real-time industry growth and encouraged students to align their academic learning with industry demands, embrace entrepreneurship, and continuously upgrade their skills.
The event also featured an inspiring Alumni Address by Ms. Bamini Priya Baskar, who highlighted the future of technology and emphasized the importance of student engagement in shaping the tech landscape. Her address provided meaningful insights into Artificial Intelligence, GPT technologies, and emerging opportunities in the IT sector.
A significant highlight of the event was the Badge Pinning Ceremony, where student representatives from various professional bodies and clubs were recognized for their leadership and active contributions. The clubs included:

The celebration concluded with a grand Award Distribution Ceremony, where students and faculty were honored across multiple categories for their exceptional achievements. The awards recognized excellence in areas such as:

A moment of pride was the recognition of Mr. I. Pranava Kumar, final-year IT student, who was awarded the Best Outgoing Student (2022–2026 Batch) for his outstanding overall performance.
The Association Day 2026 stood as an inspiring and memorable event, strengthening the bond between students, faculty, and alumni. It reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to nurturing innovation, excellence, and a progressive learning environment for future IT professionals
Association Day 2025
The Department of Information Technology organized Association Day on 26.03.2025 at 2.30 PM in University Auditorium, Ramanujam Block, Main campus. The chief guest for the day was Mr. Yegnaswamy Yegna Narayanan, Vice President, Infosys, and the Alumni guest was Mr. Samrat Kishan Rao, CEO Pragnya Software Solutions & Indo Swiss.
The event started with the introductory talk Why we gathered here by Mr. Pranava Kumar . I, Secretary, AITZa, followed by the welcome address given by Dr. N. Kanya, HOD – IT.
Followed by this Dr. S. Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor gave the presidential address, Dr. Ramesh. L JR- EPA gave the felicitation address. The chief guest Mr. Yegnaswamy Yegna Narayanan, motivated the students to get Associated and do innovative Projects.
The Alumni guest, Mr. Samrat Kishan Rao, Batch 2007-2011 shared his experience about the University during period of study and motivated the students with enlightened speech. Department Magazine “WIFI” and News Letter “TECHVOICE” which was compiled and edited by our students was released by our guests and beloved Vice Chancellor Dr. S. Geethalakshmi and the Guest of the Day.
Association Day - 2024
The Department of Information Technology organized Association Day on 26.03.2024 at 11.00AM in University Auditorium, Ramanujam Block, Main campus. The chief guest for the day was Mr. Parthipan. M, Vice President, TechProjects USA private Limited and the Alumni guest was Mr. Pintu Champ Mahato, Deputy Manager, HCL Technologies.
The event started with the introductory talk Why we gathered here by Ms. Harini, Secretary, AITZa, followed by the welcome address given by Dr. N. Kanya, HOD – IT. Then Mrs. C.Tamilselvi, Association Convener introduced the Association Office bearers and explained about the Association- AITZa. Followed by this Dr. S. Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor gave the presidential address, Dr. Ramesh. L JR- EPA gave the felicitation address.

The chief guest for the day was Mr. Dinesh Kalidoss, Associate Vice President, ETLMindtree and the Alumni guest was Mr. David Doss, HR Business Partner, Accenture.
The event started with the introductory talk Why we gathered here by Ms. Hamritha, Secretary, AITZa, followed by the welcome address given by Dr. N. Kanya, HOD – IT. Then Mrs. C.Tamilselvi, Association Convener introduced the Association Office bearers and explained about the Association- AITZa.
