National level Technical symposium SPARKLE' 25
SPARKLE 25’ commenced with a grand inaugural ceremony on the 16th of September at 10:30 AM. We were honored to have Ms. Prabha Anand, Vice President, Delivery Excellence, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Chennai, as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a warm welcome address, felicitation of our guest, and the unveiling of the symposium schedule. The Presidential Address was delivered by our honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. S. Geethalakshmi, who also had the privilege of releasing the SPARKLE 25 Souvenir.
Over 250 students participated in the senior events on Day 1. Nearly 250 students from various schools enthusiastically took part in the events on Day 2. Participating institutions included reputed engineering colleges
SPARKLE 25 was a vibrant confluence of innovation, collaboration, and creativity. We extend our heartfelt thanks to every individual who contributed to making this event a grand success.
National level Technical symposium SPARKLE'24
“Sparkle’24-National Level Technical Symposium” was organized by the Department of Information Technology on 16th and 18th September 2024 between 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Auditorium RA Block, Main Campus. The event chief guest for Inauguration was Prof.Dr.S.Vincent, Member Secretary, Tamil Nadu State council for science and Technology and chief guest for Valedictory was Mr. Nagendra Vadivoo , Technical Leader, Cisco Systems.
The session started with a welcome address by Dr. N. Kanya, Head of the IT Department, extending greetings to all participants and setting a tone of productive and engaging symposium ahead. Distinguished personalities graced the occasion with their felicitation speeches, Dr. G. Gopala Krishnan, Provost, Dr. Viswanathan, Rector, Dr. V. Cyril Raj, Additional Registrar, Dr. N. Ethiraj, Dean of Engineering & Technology shared their knowledge and experiences with us.
The event was successful enough to attract as many as 250 college students and 150 school students of registrations and an event attended by more than 200 students.
The winners were encouraged with a certificate as well as cash prizes. To end the event, Mr. Hemchandhran, IV Year A Section delivered the vote of thanks. Students who attended the event got an idea about the technical symposium. These events are amalgamation of fun and learning where ideas are displayed and students learnt and feel inspired.

Sparkle ‘23 was organized by the Association of Information Technovanza (AITZA), Department of Information Technology, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute under the theme ‘Digitall: Innovation and Technology’. The main aim of Sparkle ‘23 was to bring the students of various institutions together to create an awareness on the technological developments and their applications in the real world scenario.
It was a wonderful opportunity for students to show their talents, it motivated students on the aspects of Team work and various other components which are important for Self-development. Apart from this Sparkle also brings out the hidden talents that make students strive to win and succeed.
The inauguration ceremony for Sparkle ’23 began at 11 a.m. on August 31, 2023. Dr.N.Kanya, our HOD, presented the welcome address. Our Honourable Vice Chancellor Dr. S. Geethalakshmi delivered the presidential address. Following then, Dr. S. Geethalakshmi released the Sparkle’23 Souvenir. Dr. Iniya Nehru, Deputy Director General of the National Informatics Centre, delivered the inaugural address at 11:30 a.m.
The events were distributed over 2 days, the event coordinators and the organizers carried on enthusiastically and the participants immensely enjoyed their participation. Various events were held in the different venues as parallel sessions.The events were divided into Senior and Junior events for college and School students respectively. Participants were from various Engineering Colleges and Schools around Tamilnadu.
The successful completion of this extravagant event proves that the Students and the faculty members of our department not only shine in academics but are filled with positive qualities like leadership skills, commitment, organizing ability and most importantly team work. It is only an assurance that many more such mega events are yet to come.

Day 1 Sparkle ‘22 for seniors was inaugurated by His Excellency Mr. TAGA MASAYUKI, Consul General of Japan, Chennai on 15th September, 2022 at 12 p.m. The keynote address was given by Dr. T. RUSO, Senior Project Lead, HCL Technologies, Chennai. Our Honourable President Er. A.C.S. Sparkle Junior’22
Sparkle Junior‘22 was inaugurated by Ms. Graziella Thake, CEO, The Optimisation Hub, Australia., on 16th September, 2022 at 11 a.m at Seminar Hall, Anna block, Main Campus. She delivered the keynote address at sparkle junior’22.More than that she gave a speech about Block chain technologies in front of students.

The Valedictory Ceremony of “Sparkle’22 was held on 16th September 2022 at 03:00 P.M. The Chief Guest for the program was Mr. N K Sivakumar, Senior Manager, Cognizant Technology Services, Chennai
Prizes were given by the chief guests. At the end, the vote of thanks was given by the organizing secretary of Sparkle’22 Dr.Dahlia Sam., Associate professor, Department of Information Technology.
A VIRTUAL NATIONAL LEVEL SYMPOSIUM SPARKLE'21
Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Department of Information Technology of Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, under the benevolence of our Honorable President sir and under the constant support and guidance of Prof. Dr. S. GeethaLakshmi our Vice Chancellor madam, organized the Virtual National Level Symposium “SPARKLE’21” on to 03.07.2021.
The Inauguration of the event started at 10.00 am Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S. Geetha Lakshmi gave the introductory address and followed by the felicitation address delivered by our Joint Registrar Dr. V. Cyril Raj.

The Valedictory of the event started at 3.30 PM with the Welcome Address by Dr. N. Kanya HOD- IT followed by a short video on the symposium with the students and shared how he went aboard for this higher education and got placed in the MNC.
The session was very interactive and informative for the students. The event came to the end with the formal vote of thanks given by Mrs. S. Shobana, Assistant Professor, Dept of IT
