Mathematics is a fundamental discipline that plays a vital role in science, engineering, technology, and everyday life. Research in mathematics involves the systematic investigation of mathematical structures, patterns, and relationships to discover new concepts, develop theories, and solve complex problems. Unlike routine problem-solving, mathematical research focuses on creating original knowledge through logical reasoning, abstraction, and rigorous proof.

 

Mathematical research can be broadly classified into pure mathematics and applied mathematics. Pure mathematics is concerned with the development of theoretical concepts such as algebra, geometry, number theory, and topology, without immediate practical application. In contrast, applied mathematics focuses on using mathematical methods to solve real-world problems in fields such as physics, biology, economics, and computer science.
