About the Department
The Department of Chemistry, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, established in 1988 as a supporting department, has grown into a dynamic and progressive centre of science and technology. Since attaining Deemed-to-be University status in 2003, the Department has flourished into a full-fledged academic and research hub offering a range of UG, PG, and research programmes.
With a team of highly qualified and research-driven faculty members, the Department stands distinguished by having the maximum number of doctorates. The academic environment fosters excellence, enabling students to achieve significant milestones in both curricular and co-curricular activities. The Department maintains strong collaboration with industries, ensuring skill development, training opportunities, and a promising placement record.
To enrich the learning ecosystem, the Department regularly organizes guest lectures, workshops, national and international conferences, seminars, video-conferencing sessions, and various community-oriented programmes, nurturing scientific temper among students and young educators.

Welcome to the department of Chemistry. We started our journey as supporting department to Engineering courses and emerged as individual department in 2015 in the vision to conduct UG core Chemistry courses. We stepped on the next level to conduct PG core Chemistry courses in the year 2018.
Our vision is to support and advance the learning, teaching and research activities by creating a workplace environment that encourages overall development of professional and personal growth. Our mission is to encourage students to be more creative, inquisitive and to understand the technology based on chemical science concepts. We provide opportunities to students to face the challenges of the technology-based advancement by providing them with ample opportunities to enrich their research and analytical skills.
We have a team of fabulous faculty members who display boundless energy and intense commitment which keeps the ethos of our department shining brightly Faculty members of the Department are well trained in teaching as well as research and the Department shines with maximum doctorates.
The department has sufficient infrastructural support for carrying out quality research as it is equipped with instruments in the Laboratory and a well-stocked Department Library.
