MoU Collaborative Special Session on “The Art of Writing Chapter 1: Structuring the Foundation of a Research Thesis”
With immense pleasure, the Faculty of Education presents the report on the Special Session titled “The Art of Writing Chapter–1: Structuring the Foundation of a Research Thesis”,organized collaboratively by the Faculty of Education, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute and Stella Matutina College of Education under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) established between the institutions.
The session was conducted on 26th March 2026 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Google Meet, with the objective of enhancing the research writing skills of scholars and students, particularly in structuring Chapter–1 of a research thesis. The resource person, Dr. A. Shyamala Devi, Assistant Professor and Head (i/c), Department of Education, University of Madras, delivered an insightful and engaging session. She clearly explained the essential components of Chapter–1, including the introduction, need for the study, statement of the problem, objectives, hypotheses and operational definitions. She also provided practical guidance and highlighted common errors to be avoided in research writing.
The interactive nature of the programme enabled participants to clarify their queries and gain deeper insights into structuring a research thesis. The session proved to be highly informative and beneficial, strengthening academic collaboration as envisioned in the MoU and enriching the research competencies of the participants.
