Sharon Connect – One-Day Hands-on Workshop on Contemporary Interiors
As part of an ongoing collaboration between the Bachelor of Design (FoA) program and Sharon Plywood Company, a one-day hands-on workshop was successfully conducted. Students explored parametric design by creating contemporary bookshelves across three modules.
Guided by the architect team from Chisel Works, Chennai, participants gained practical experience in 2D drawings, estimation, and fabrication—actively working with cutting machines to develop their own models.
The session concluded with a formal gathering where certificates were distributed to first and third-year B.Des students, and mementos were presented in appreciation of the collaborators.
The workshop stood out for its high level of student engagement, with participants successfully completing three bookshelf modules within a single day.
Blender Software Upskilling Workshop
III Year B.Design students (FoA) successfully completed a fast-track upskilling course in Blender Software, conducted at Frameboxx, Anna Nagar, from 18th to 21st February 2026 (30 hours).
The intensive program covered key aspects including interface basics, furniture and interior modelling, texturing, lighting, and rendering. Designed to align academic learning with industry expectations, the workshop provided hands-on exposure to essential digital design skills.
This certification program served as a significant step in preparing students to become industry-ready designers.
Live Model Testing – Wooden Pointed Arch
As part of the Materials and Construction VI course, a live model testing session on a Wooden Pointed Arch was conducted under the guidance of Ar. Vilasini and Ar. Mohammed Waseem Akram.
The session demonstrated the complete process of arch construction, including profile drawing and cutting, assembling wooden ribs, joint fixing, and reinforcement. A live load testing exercise enabled students to observe structural behavior, load transfer, stability, and failure points.
This hands-on session provided a clear understanding of how pointed arches efficiently distribute loads while minimizing horizontal thrust, making it an engaging and practical learning experience.
Expert lecture on “Thesis Process and Presentation”
The Faculty of Architecture organized an expert lecture on “Thesis Process and Presentation” for M.Arch (Interior Architecture) students, under the guidance of our Honorable President, Thiru Er. A.C.S. Arun Kumar.
Conducted by Ar. Jibina Dixon and Ar. Uthra Mahmood, the session provided structured
guidance on developing research frameworks, refining design concepts, organizing documentation, and delivering effective jury presentations. Key challenges in the thesis process were addressed, helping students approach their work in a systematic and professional manner.
The lecture enabled students to better align research with design outcomes and enhance their presentation skills, preparing them for both academic and professional success.
Online Expert Talk on Lighting Design for Corporate Offices
The Faculty of Architecture, under the guidance of our Honorable President, Thiru A.C.S. Arun Kumar, organized an online expert talk on “LightingDesignforCorporateOffice–ACaseStudy” for M.Arch (Interior Architecture), B.Arch, and B.Des (Interior Design) students.
The session provided valuable insights into the role of lighting in enhancing workplace productivity, spatial experience, and user well-being. Through a detailed case study, the speaker discussed lighting concepts, design strategies, material coordination, energy efficiency, and execution challenges.
Students gained practical knowledge on balancing aesthetics with functionality, integrating
natural and artificial lighting, and addressing real-time project requirements.
Student Achievements at Level Up 2.0 – Vortex
B.Arch and B.Design students from the Faculty of Architecture excelled at Level Up 2.0 – Vortex, an inter-college competition hosted by AMS College. The team secured 1st and 2nd prizes in the On-Spot Design Competition, along with 2nd prizes in Shark Tank, Group Dance, and Fashion Walk.
Our Honorable President, Er. A.C.S. Arunkumar, congratulated and felicitated the students, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence beyond academics.
