The Department of Aviation Industrial Visit

The Department of Aviation of Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute organized an Industrial Visit for B.Sc (Aviation) and Aviation Certificate Course students on 16th February 2026 at 11:30 a.m. to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Centre at Chennai International Airport. The visit was conducted with the permission and support of the officials of the Airports Authority of India.

The objective of the visit was to provide practical exposure to airport operations, particularly the role and responsibilities of Air Traffic Controllers in ensuring safe and efficient aircraft movement. Students gained insights into ground and airspace control, radar monitoring systems, communication procedures between pilots and controllers, airspace management, and airport safety coordination.

During the visit, officials explained the structure and functioning of the ATC tower, aircraft tracking systems, and the importance of precision, responsibility, and teamwork in aviation operations. The interaction helped bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-time aviation practices.

The Department of Aviation expresses its sincere gratitude to the officials of the Airports Authority of India for their support. Special thanks are extended to Captain Vivek Kandasamy, Knowledge Partner, for his valuable coordination, and to Dr. Malini Pande for accompanying and motivating the students. The Department remains committed to excellence in aviation training and student development.
