Dr.MGR Animation & Viscom Students Developed Virtual Reality Models for Medical Education
Students from the Department of Visual Communication & Animation, B.Sc. Game Art & Design, and B.Sc. Advanced Animation, under the guidance and support of their professors, successfully developed innovative Virtual Reality (VR) models exclusively for medical education.
These VR models were created to help medical college students understand human anatomy in an immersive and interactive manner. The models included detailed cross-sections of the lungs, eyes, kidneys, and brain, allowing users to explore each organ layer by layer.
The project was viewed and appreciated by Dr. Abhijat Chandrakant Sheth, Head of the National Medical Commission. During his visit, he interacted with the VR models by lifting and examining the organs in a three-dimensional environment and observing their internal layers in real time. He highly appreciated the students’ technical skill, creativity, and application of Virtual Reality in medical learning.
President of Dr. M.G.R University, Er. A.C.S. Arunkumar, honoured the students and staffs for their outstanding achievements by awarding a cash prize of ₹1,00,000 for their contribution to Virtual Reality–based medical education.
This achievement highlights the interdisciplinary excellence of our students and faculty and reflects the university’s commitment to innovation, research, and industry-relevant learning through emerging technologies such as Virtual Reality.
