About University
Overview
With a vision to bring about social change and sustained progress through quality education, the Tmt. Kannammal Educational Trust was established in 1985. The Trust began its educational journey with the founding of Thai Moogambigai Polytechnic College in the same year.
Expanding its academic footprint, Dr. M.G.R. Engineering College was established in 1988, followed by the inception of Thai Moogambigai Dental College in 1991. In recognition of their academic standards and contributions to higher education, both institutions were conferred Deemed-to-be University status in 2003, under the name Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, as per the approval of the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education), Government of India.
Subsequently, the Deemed-to-be University expanded into diverse professional and healthcare education domains with the establishment of several constituent colleges under its umbrella. These include:
Thai Moogambikai Dental College and Hospital (TMDCH)
Approved with Dental Council of India and Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi.
ACS Medical College and Hospital (ACSMCH)
Established with due statutory approvals and accredited by NAAC, NMC, and other relevant professional bodies
RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH)
Established with due statutory approvals and accredited by NAAC, NMC, and other relevant professional bodies
Sri Lalithambigai Medical College & Hospital (SLMCH)
Established with due statutory approvals and accredited by NAAC, NMC, and other relevant professional bodies

Offering approved academic programs as part of the Deemed-to-be University framework
All the above institutions function as constituent units of Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute (Deemed-to-be University), adhering to UGC regulations and maintaining academic, clinical, and research excellence through recognized accreditation and regulatory compliance.
Today, the University stands as a multidisciplinary hub for engineering, medical, dental, paramedical, and allied sciences education, continuing its mission of nation-building through inclusive and quality higher education.
