The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 1988. Since its inception, the department has made impressive academic progress, supported by highly motivated students and well-qualified faculty members.The B. Tech ECE program was accredited by NBA. The research scholars in the department actively work in diverse emerging areas of Electronics & Communication Engineering. The department is equipped with the state-of-the-art technology labs and has always been proactive in organizing a variety of events that includes national and international conferences, workshops, FDPs and seminars. The department receives funds from government bodies for the conduction of seminars, STTPs and the like. A DRDO-CABS funded project worth ₹21.84 lakhs on antenna design has been successfully completed.
Department students hone their knowledge and technical expertise through successful participation in NPTEL courses. Through the spur motivation by the faculty members, students have participated and played a part in copious international competitions, forums, and stages. The department holds a substantial number of publications in international journals and conferences with an appreciable H-index. The faculty members have authored books in various disciplines and also filed many patents. A Center of Excellence is a strategic asset for an institution, enhancing its capabilities, fostering innovation and ensuring that it remains competitive in its field. In 2025, the department formally established a Centre of Excellence in Smart Agriculture.

The Centre of Excellence in Smart Agriculture focuses on integrating Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning with agricultural practices to enhance productivity, sustainability, and resilience in the agricultural sector. It supports technology-led innovation in the region by providing infrastructure and support services for prototyping, developing, testing, and marketing to incubating startups. It aims to foster technological innovation, startup incubation, and industry collaboration in Agritech. They are instrumental in transforming India’s agricultural landscape by promoting innovation, fostering collaboration, and empowering farmers with advanced technologies.
