One of the most difficult jobs in agriculture is identifying plant diseases early on. Early disease detection in plants is crucial for increasing agricultural yield. With the application of machine learning and deep learning techniques, this issue has been resolved. Large crop farms can now detect plant illnesses automatically, which is advantageous as it reduces the monitoring time. The suggested approach consists of multiple important stages. To begin with, image quality of the agricultural lands is improved through preprocessing techniques like noise reduction, gamma correction and white balancing. Data augmentation is incorporated to expand the dataset and improve the generalization capacity of the model. Efficient methods such as EfficientDet and Squeeze Net, as well as color and shape based features, are included in feature extraction. The most relevant features are selected by a Hybrid Optimization Algorithm (HOA), which integrates Mother Optimization Algorithm (MOA), Teaching learning-based optimization (TLBO) and Improved Wild Horse Optimization to detect the various plant diseases like Bacterial Blight, Tungro, Blast and Brown spot. At last, a deep learning detector, which may include Recurrent Convolutional Neural Networks (R-CNNs) and Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), identifies the location and type of objects. The use of hyper parameter tuning techniques is also implemented to avoid over fitting and improve the overall generalization. This comprehensive approach depicts encouraging results in overcoming challenges in plant disease detection | Machine Learning,Artificial Intelligence,Ecology,Agriculture,Algorithm,Computation,Biology,Computer Science | https://doi.org/10.1016/j.procs.2024.12.001 | 10.1016/j.procs.2024.12.001

In the arena of renewable energy integration for electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, it is a problem to
efficiently use solar power with EV charging, considering grid constraints and user preferences. The current
study proposes a new smart charging algorithm that utilizes IoT data for the dynamic optimization of EV
charging patterns. A novel aspect of the study was a deep learning model, "EVGridNet", that reliably predicts
solar energy output and grid prices. EVGridNet uses deep learning approaches to process accumulated data via
IoT devices, facilitating fine-tuned adjustments to charging patterns through predictive analytics. {This
algorithm receives actual data on the generation of solar energy, the price of grid electricity, and other
characteristics set by the user to optimize the usage of solar energy, limit the usage of grid electricity
during the peak hours and meet all the needs of the user.} The optimization process of the algorithm
strategically manages energy sources, uses battery storage systems to exploit solar power effectively and uses
grid electricity during low-cost periods, all within user preference parameters. The proposed system has the
potential of reducing grid electric use by up to 25% for EV charging, and increasing the renewable energy
electricity in EV charging to 40% as per simulation results. This will enable quick EV infrastructure
scalability, low carbon emission, and energy independence. EVGridNet is an outstanding innovation in smart
charging technology, which is a cost-effective and scalable solution to the renewable energy sector's primary
challenge. One of the key aspects of the optimization process is the control of energy sources where battery
storage systems allow for flexibility in using solar energy and grid electricity within certain pre-set
thresholds

The survivability of the patients is increased by early diagnosis of DM. Henceforth, it is very important to detect it as early as possible. To predict the segmented retinal images, many approaches have been proposed recently. Image-based analysis of the retinal fundus images is used as a non-invasive medical imaging modality. For medical image analysis, an image with elevated spatial resolution and contrast is required. Analysis of retinal images is the first step for early detection of DM. This goal is accomplished by segmentation of retinal fundus images using a residual U-network (RA-UNet) structure. The shuffled shepherd optimization algorithm (SSOA) and conditional autoregressive (CAViaR) algorithm facilitate in building an optimal architecture for deep learning neural network (DLNN) to detect and categorize diabetic retinopathy (DR) which is a consequence of DM. Random noise is eliminated using the adaptive threshold (AT) technique. Normal and abnormal regions of the retina are identified by the segmentation approach. Accurate delineation of the retina is carried out to segment and classify regions of the retina affected by DR. It is categorized as normal (NL), non-proliferative DR (NPDR), and proliferative DR (PDR). Fundus camera provides a better contrast for delineation of the blood vessels and hemorrhages, providing in-depth visibility. In the last few years, DLNN algorithms have exhibited prominent results in solving problems such as the detection and tracking of various retinal diseases by image classification and achieving promising results. Diagnosis of DM from retinal fundus images provides directions for quantitative analysis of research using DLNNs. Advanced communication technologies use the internet as a means of communication to connect the related devices called the internet of things (IoT), for the exchange of information. The uniquely identifiable objects are commonly referred to as IoT which are autonomous. These IoT devices can exchange digital information in the real world. IoT favors automation and offers flexibility and scalability in the design of healthcare systems with precision. Integration of infrastructure resources provides capability and effectiveness in healthcare IoT (HIoT) to share potential information among the users. Taking into consideration the remarkable breakthroughs made by these cutting-edge technologies, physicians have used relevant works based on imaging techniques, deep learning, and IoT to design an efficient algorithm for diagnosis by segmentation of retinal fundus images, emphasizing IoT simulation and routing, region of interest (RoI) extraction, residual attention-aware segmentation methods, and focusing on evaluation metrics such as the appropriateness measure. The research outcomes of this work can be transformed into a simulation package so that it can be used for medical diagnostics of NPDR and PDR at an early stage to save the life of the patient. | Artificial Intelligence,Diabetes Mellitus,Endocrinology,Medicine,Ophthalmology,Algorithm,Computer Science,Optometry,Fundus (uterus),Retinal,Residual | https://doi.org/10.1201/9781032708430-4 | 10.1201/9781032708430-4

IOsE is quality reliant. The characteristics of flame in the combustion chamber which is used for identification and control of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions. Currently, existing methods for flame analysis include non-invasive and high frequency spectral light dependent imaging techniques. Colour of the flame inside the Combustion Chamber (CCh) determines the prediction of Combustion Quality (CQ) and thereby its corresponding Combustion Quality Index (CQI). An online quality detection scheme for smart environment with colour extraction technique from the flame images to identify complete and incomplete combustion conditions is developed. For this, the intensity value of the pixels in Red-Blue-Green (RBG) plane is utilized. The coal is used as the prime fuel to heat water and convert it to steam for operating the industrial boilers. The quality prediction of combustion from flame colour and shape includes Complete Combustion (CC) and Incomplete Combustion (IC) categories. The flame images for CC and IC categories are subjected to preprocessing, attribute extraction and finally the prediction of flame quality is done using Random Forest (RF), Ada Boost (AB), Gradient Boosting (GB), Decision Tree (DT) and Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP). To address these issues, the development of smart grids and automation has become essential. A key component of this shift is played by smart meters, which are advanced meters utilized for remote energy consumption measurement. They provide several advantages, such as effective billing, supply–demand balancing, remote metering, and monitoring. Smart meter deployment benefits energy suppliers, consumers, and society as a whole and helps to accomplish various UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG). The development of many types of smart meters with functions beyond the core functionality of smart metering is evidence of the ongoing evolution of this technology. In that transition, prepaid meters have emerged as a variant of smart meters, drawing more attention due to their effective energy management functionalities in addition to conventional smart meter functionalities. Although these additional functionalities offer significant advantages to both energy suppliers and consumers, it is imperative to consider the costs associated with designing and implementing such sophisticated prepaid meters. The design of the prepaid meter becomes more complex as it incorporates more features and capabilities which drive up production and development costs. The combination of these factors may increase the overall cost of advanced prepaid meters, which may sometimes outweigh the direct benefits associated with their deployment. So, there is a need to develop a cost-effective strategy to address the aforementioned challenges. Consequently, in this work, a cost-effective prepaid meter design approach with advanced metering functionalities is proposed, developed, and tested in real-time scenarios to mitigate the aforementioned challenges | Not Available | https://doi.org/10.1002/9781394193769.ch13 | 10.1002/9781394193769.ch13

The most important and flimsy data that attackers point victims toward are information sources. Each cloud client’s security and protection are compromised in the unlikely event that information is lost. A cloud network is monitored remotely, yet there is still a risk of an intruder from within. Interior attackers obtain entry to a framework by haggling over a feeble client hub. They launch attacks pretending to be confidential client information and are connected to the internal cloud network. AI techniques are typically applied to cloud security problems. According to the current AI-based security techniques, a hub is described as being troubled when it becomes dependent on sporadic behavioral data. These frameworks do not distinguish between a resentful hub and an out-of-control hub. This work suggests an improvised model that learns a client’s behavior, automatically gets ready, and archives social media data in order to solve this problem. Without a doubt, the model can classify the client behavior as normal or unusual. Using the determined trust factor, the suggested approach finds an oddity hub and uses it to identify whether an acting mischievously hub is a wrecked hub, another client hub, or an undermined hub. Many research related studies are carried out to estimate the pollutants in the air quality in metropolitan cities and areas near thermal power stations are inconsistent because the measured data for the multiple pollutants are not accurate. Though some mathematical models are available, there exists a research gap because of the lag existing in their capability to detect the multi-pollutant concentrations. Hence, a smart drone can be constructed to detect and measure 7 poisonous gases causing air pollution in various metropolitan cities and regions near thermal power plants. The quality of air can be monitored using drones in surrounding areas, near thermal power plants like Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC), Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, for solid waste estimation in the dump yards and also emission of various flue gases like Carbon Monoxide (CO), Carbon dioxide (CO2), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) and Sulphur Dioxide (SO2). Currently, simulation studies reveal that four gas emissions related to air pollution are forecasted and estimated on using real time data from the sensors on a small scale. This data was used for analysing the training curve of the Radial Basis Function Network (RBFN). The proposed RBFN model was capable of monitoring and forecasting the intensities of various pollutants present in the atmosphere sample used for pollution analysis. Once the training and testing is over, the estimated and forecasted values of the pollutants to measure the air quality in various places can be used to avoid pollution or minimize the pollution levels by ensuring complete combustion. The prototype model of RBFN yielded an RMS value of 0.0001 for measuring the four types of air pollutants present in the flue gases from NLC (industrial area) for estimation and forecasting which will support the urban sustainability leasing to planning and development of pollution-free smart cities | Not Available | https://doi.org/10.1007/978-981-96-1744-9_45 | 10.1007/978-981-96-1744-9_45

Here, we introduced a novel method for enhancing the efficiency and lifetime of WSNs by using the WSN to process images data and genetic programming (GA) to find the best route. A system model was developed to balance a network consisting of homogenous sensor nodes placed randomly in a particular geographical area, representing realistic scenarios. Each sensor node has limited energy resources, hence the operation of the network was partitioned into clustering phase and routing phase to optimal utilization of energy. To improve both the accuracy and efficiency of clustering, the genetic algorithm then identified the optimal path through these clusters using the best combination of pivot nodes for transmission. The proposed method applies image processing techniques to process sensor data, preprocesses sensor data, and then improves the classification process, clustering results, and the genetic algorithm obtains the more energy-efficient paths. Our extensive evaluation results prove substantial optimizations in network performance, energy efficiency and lifetime over known protocols. This method is expected to be effective in such applications as environmental monitoring, disaster management, and other applications that will utilize reliable and sustainable WSNs. | Not Available | https://doi.org/10.1109/icscsa64454.2024.00046 | 10.1109/icscsa64454.2024.00046

Modern power grids in regions with high renewable energy sources face
unique challenges. Incorporating renewable energy, like wind and solar, can cause voltage, frequency, and power fluctuations, leading to instability. This study focuses on Tamil Nadu's extra high voltage transmission system, which has significant wind generation. It explores the impact of large-scale renewable energy integration and proposes the use of static synchronous compensators (STATCOM), a part of flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS). STATCOM actively monitors and controls the grid, ensuring stability under unpredictable conditions. It is observed that the system maintains the grid stability with base rotor angle and voltage of 1.0 per unit during sudden loss 120 MW generator. Also, during the sudden loss of all renewable resources, the grid maintains the stability with rotor angle of 60 degree (base value). The findings provide insights into challenges and solutions, fortifying grid stability for accommodating more renewable energy without compromising reliability or efficiency |

It leads to the eminent rise of speech technology over the past few decades. It is termed computational para-linguistics. This research concentrates on extracting and providing a robust feature that examines the characteristics of speech data. The factors are analysed in a spectral way which stimulates the auditory elements. The speech enhancement technological process is being initiated with pre-processing, feature extraction, and classification. Initially, the input data conversion is done with ADC of 16 kHz sampling frequency. The spectral features are extracted with minimal Mean Square Error to enhance the re-construction ability and eliminate the redundancy characteristics. Finally, the deep neural network is adopted for multi-class classification. The simulation is performed in MATLAB 2020a environment, and the empirical outcomes are evaluated with existing approaches. Here, metrics like Mean Square Error, accuracy, Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR) and features retained are computed efficiently. The anticipated model shows a trade-off in contrast to prevailing approaches. The outcomes demonstrate a better recognition rate and offer significant characteristics in selecting the most influencing features. | Artificial Intelligence,Linguistics,Artificial Neural Network,Feature Extraction,Mathematics,Philosophy,Speech Recognition,Statistics,Computer Science,Image (mathematics),Operating system,Pattern recognition (psychology),Noise (video),Feature (linguistics),Word error rate,Mean squared error,Redundancy (engineering) | https://doi.org/10.1007/s10772-022-09974-9 | 10.1007/s10772-022-09974-9
