Our University education is designed based on the flexible Credit System, with high standards so that the character and personality of the students would be developed with strong knowledge base and skill inputs to face challenges in real life. The University is promoted as a premise, in which pursuit and dissemination of knowledge is a paramount importance, commitment to quality is unequivocal, respect for human dignity is unmatched and research innovation is an uncompromising norm.

   Department of
   Civil Engineering

Profile

Civil Department was started in the year 2002 with a sanctioned intake of 90 students. Our department has highly qualifies and motivated staff members. Most of our staff members are doing research activities.

Mission

The mission of the Civil Engineering Department is to explore the possibility of making use of waste products and materials available in abundance as substitute for building materials to economize the construction and thereby increase the affordability and sustenance of environment.

Vision

Our vision is to train students in civil engineering to build a capacity and quality in them, to think designing and constructing safe habitat and to create better environment for the common man to lead a quality life.

Contribution to Community

1. Response to the needs of the Community

We train the students to handle socially relevant projects which benefits user community in terms of developing methodology to repair and rehabilitate distressed structures and buildings of the community as it has become a wide spread problem faced by the community.  Further, the students are trained to address the problem & caused by the natural calamities such as Tsunamis, Cyclones, Earthquakes, etc.

2. Extension and awareness programmes

At present the developmental and industrial activities in and around the city is causing much degradation to the environment in terms of air pollution, water pollution and noise pollution.  In order to ameliorate the situation and create awareness among the public organization of camps in the locality has been contemplated with the participation of the students.

3. Diversity and Flexibility of Curriculum

 Credit based curriculum
 Tutorials
 Special classes for weak students

4. Redesign Courses (relevant to regional and national needs)

Courses designed are approved by the Board of Studies later and Academic councils.

5. Feed-back from Academic Peers (Review / Redesign)
Quite encouraging

EVENTS ORGANISED:

1. Seminar conducted “Zero waste management, clean technology and its
Advantage” Association with EXNORA (Clean waste management
   Society)

2. Civil Engineering students Association “CYBO”was inaugurated on August 23,2005by the Director, Structural Engineering Research centre at colorful and well attended function. A National Level Technical symposium was organized on October 3 and 4,2005 by the CYBO Called CIVATION’05 in which about 50 students authors presented papers in six session and 170 students delegates attended the symposium. Along with this technical quiz, model exhibition etc. competitions were also conducted. Prizes for the best paper and seminar in competition were giving during the valedictory function
